Meet Nicole Rayburn
Founder, Director & Owner | Northwest Georgia Volleyball
Driven by a passion for volleyball and a commitment to developing young athletes, Nicole Rayburn founded Northwest Georgia Volleyball with a simple mission: to provide a competitive, affordable, and family-oriented environment where athletes can thrive both on and off the court.
With more than 10 years of coaching experience, Nicole has worked with athletes at the youth, middle school, and high school levels, helping players build confidence, strengthen their skills, and reach their full potential. Her dedication to the sport extends beyond coaching, as she has also served for several years as a volleyball official for multiple organizations, including the Georgia High School Association (GHSA).
A lifelong athlete, Nicole’s sports background includes volleyball, cheerleading, softball, basketball, track and field, and clogging. These experiences have shaped her coaching philosophy—one that emphasizes hard work, discipline, teamwork, and personal growth.
In addition to coaching club teams, Nicole has led summer camps, skill clinics, and private training sessions, providing athletes with opportunities to develop their game year-round.
What truly sets Nicole apart is her belief that volleyball is about more than wins and losses—it’s about building character, creating opportunities, and fostering lasting relationships. That belief inspired the foundation of Northwest Georgia Volleyball and remains at the heart of everything the club does today.
One Team. One Family.
Nicole takes this motto seriously and is proud to welcome every athlete and family into a positive, supportive community where players are encouraged to compete, grow, and succeed together.
“Our goal is not just to develop great volleyball players, but confident, hardworking young people who are prepared for success in every aspect of life.”

Northwest Georgia Volleyball is proud to officially welcome Wade Robinson to our travel volleyball program!
Wade brings a lifelong passion for athletics and an impressive, well-rounded coaching background. A natural-born athlete, he has coached across multiple sports and age levels, including baseball (6U–12U), football, softball, and both 12U and 14U volleyball. His diverse experience provides a unique and valuable perspective on developing young athletes.
Known for his high energy, competitive mindset, and ability to truly connect with players, Wade is committed to developing athletes both on and off the court. His multi-sport background allows him to emphasize strong fundamentals, teamwork, confidence, and a winning mentality in every athlete he coaches.
Off the court, Wade is supported by his wife, Kelsey, and their four children—Shelbi, Isabella, Delilah, and Xander—who all share a love for sports and an active lifestyle.
We are beyond excited to have Wade and his family join Northwest Georgia Volleyball. At NWGV, we don’t just add coaches—we welcome families.
Welcome to the family, Wade!
One Team. One Family.
NWGV is thrilled to welcome Layna Mickelson to our coaching staff! We are just as excited to welcome her incredible family—her husband Jayson and their three daughters, Scarlet, Piper, and Killian.
At Northwest Georgia Volleyball, when we bring in a coach, we welcome an entire family—because we truly are One Team, One Family.
Layna brings valuable experience from her time playing volleyball in high school, along with an impressive background of serving and mentoring others. From being a volunteer firefighter and Private First Class in GSDF, to a youth mentor, camp counselor, and years of dedication in children’s ministry—her impact speaks for itself.
Her passion for working with young athletes is unmatched. Layna has a genuine heart, a competitive spirit, and a strong desire to help every athlete grow, succeed, and win—both on and off the court.
Please join us in giving a warm NWGV welcome to Layna and her amazing family!
